Acute Pain Presentation
Patient presents for the treatment of acute pain
Cause
Patient states that simple analgesia such paracetamol or Ibuprofen are not providing adequate pain relief
On Examination:
The patient does not appear intoxicated with alcohol or opiate medication.
GCS 15
Management:
1. Script as printed
2. Patient encouraged to consider a reduction in the dose of their medication should the level of their pain decrease
3. Patient advised to return to this clinic should they have any issues with the medication or pain needs
4. Patient Advised of the addictive nature of the medication have been prescribed and that they should seek to reduce the dose as quickly as possible and return to using simple analgesics such as
