Adult URTI Full Presentation

Patient presents with symptoms suggestive of a viral upper respiratory tract infection:
- sore throat
- cough
- fevers
- malaise

Examination:


Respiratory exam :
good air entry bilaterally
No respiratory distress
No crepitations or wheeze

Throat exam:
some redness on the tonsils and pharynx but not pus visible

Cervical lymphadenopathy present

Nil signs of meningitis:
- Nil photophobia
- nil purpuric rash
- Nil neck stiffness


Examination:
General:


Reason for visit:
URTI

Management:
Patient advised to:
- Rest
- Regular paracetamol +/- Ibuprofen
- Drink plenty of fluids

They have been advised to return here or present to ED should their symptoms worsen or if they have any concerns
